Humane Society of Lawton-Comanche County
Cat Foster Program
Cats come to the homes of foster families, while waiting to be adopted or decompressing from their shelter stay. If you have a quiet space in your home and time to give to under socialized, shy, sensitive, an older cat, or a cat with special needs, you might be a great foster parent for the Humane Society of Lawton-Comanche County. Once out of the shelter, many cats are very easy going and simply need a safe place to stay. Some are very shy and need special socializing. We will match you with a cat that is right for your interest and experience and will provide you lots of guidance and support.
Our foster parents provide temporary care for cats in their homes until they can be placed for adoption. Foster families provide the second chance that so many stray, abandoned or homeless cats need, and the satisfaction of knowing that they have helped save the lives of these helpless animals. The Humane Society of Lawton-Comanche County provides training and support, medications, food and litter as needed, and absorbs all veterinary expenses associated with the care of the foster cats. If you love cats and would like to be a part of our lifesaving team, consider opening your heart and home to cats in need. |

Cat Foster Coordinators
Cat foster coordinators are volunteers within the Humane Society of Lawton-Comanche County who are available to give advice and general support to cat foster parents. Cat foster coordinators have extensive experience within the Humane Society and working with foster families and their cats. Cat foster coordinators are volunteers, have foster cats, pets/families of their own and have full time jobs. Please be patient and respectful of time commitments when reaching out to your foster coordinator. You will be assigned a foster coordinator when you pick up your foster cat. This person should be your primary go-to person for all foster questions or needs. If an emergency occurs and you can't contact your primary foster coordinator, it's ok to go to the next coordinator on the list until you reach someone.
